The edifice built in 1902 is both a Reformed Church and a Parish where Pastor László Tokés lived. The manifestation against his deportation on December the 15th 1989 represented the spak that caused the beginning of The Anti-Communist Revolution in Romania, 1989.
At the front door, on the facade, there are commemorative plates with the following message written in four languages (Romanian, Serbian, Hungarian, and German): “The Revolution that abolished the Dictatorship started here 15.12.1989”.
The Palace built in an English Gothic Style was planned by the Hungarian architects, Nagy Károly and Jánosházi László.The ensemble comprising the church, the prayers room, and 11 dwellings was considered “one of the most monumental and beautiful buildings in Elisabetin”, by Josef Geml, the Mayor of Timisoara 1914-1919.
The left side of the building is facing The Monument of Virgin Mary, built in 1906 in order to remind us of the place where Gheorghe Doja, the leader of the Revolution in 1514 was executed.
